A20 planes of the 3rd Attack Group along with artillery and mortars soften up Japanese positions on Hill 2380 (Mount Malepunyo) in southeast Luzon, Philippine Islands, ahead of an infantry assault by elements of the 511th Parachute Infantry and 1st Calvary. A rare piece of footage with audio and video showing a sometimes frustrated liaison officer on the ground trying to direct the A20s to get their ordinance on target during the airstrike. Following the airstrike footage is a meeting of artillery and infantry officers coordinating the artillery barrage that takes place prior to the infantry assault. Unfortunately there is no footage of the assault, but the clip ends with the soldiers having taken the hill. Public domain footage clipped from Combat Bulletin No. 56 produced by the US Ar...
NRA Life of Duty Presented by Brownells Patriot Profiles Sponsored by Smith & Wesson On December 8, 1941, as the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, they also attacked the Philippine island of Luzon, home to manila, Clark Air Base, Fort McKinley and American forces stationed there. American forces waged war for months until surrender seemed the only option. Most became prisoners of war and endured the infamous Bataan Death March. But roughly 450 men chose to hide in the jungle and find a way to fight on. Watch the Full Feature at http://www.nralifeofduty.tv/#!/patriotprofiles/video/762

This vapor rich air was flowing from the West Philippine Sea. As it continue to rose and swept over the land, a relatively warmer air blew from the east - this made it swirl like this. The Clark Global City (CGC) is a 177 hectare property located at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga. It is envisioned to be the premier alternative commercial business enclave in Luzon. CGC benefits from a worldclass master plan, designed to have the most efficient access to major transportation nodes in Luzon. As road, port and air congestion issues in Metro Manila continue to escalate, CGC is the ideal location as the next major business district. The current government’s initiatives to develop Clark and its surrounding areas send a clear signal of this vision for the Clark Freeport Zone.
WORLD WAR II- SUBSCRIBE TO EXCELLENT WORLD WAR II VIDEOS The Japanese decision to fight a passive war of attrition set the tone for the entire campaign. Had Yamashita conducted a more active defense, one that did not meekly surrender the initiative to the Americans, the struggle might have been shorter but much sharper. In such a case, MacArthur's single-minded drive on Manila might have been judged a risky venture and the diversion of troops to liberate other minor islands a dangerous practice. And had the Americans suffered even minor reverses on the battlefield in the early days of January and February, the struggle might also have been prolonged until August at an even heavier cost in American lives. Taken altogether, MacArthur's offensive had contained or taken out of the war over ...

This fascinating 1945 newsreel shows the battle for the Philippines, as U.S. forces under the command of General Douglas MacArthur launch an assault on the island of Leyte. The battle resulted in a U.S. and Filipino victory. The Allies had taken control of all strategically and economically important locations of Luzon by March 1945, although pockets of Japanese resistance held out in the mountains until the unconditional surrender of Japan. While not the highest in US casualties, it is the highest net casualty battle US forces fought in World War Two, with 192,000 to 205,000 Japanese combatants killed, 8,000 Americans combatants killed, and between 120,000 to 140,000 Filipino civilians and combatants killed. The newsreel has some fascinating moments including images of the liberation ...
